Our Story
We’re Cristy and William Wisell, the two-person team behind Farmers Market Pizza, a Vermont-based mobile wood-fired catering company built on connection, hard work, and the simple joy of feeding people.

How It Started
We opened our first restaurant in Shelburne in 2006 and ran it for nearly a decade. Those years taught us everything — how to manage a kitchen under pressure, balance consistency with creativity, and most importantly, how to take care of people. We learned that good food matters, but genuine hospitality matters even more.

Over time, we expanded into catering and eventually launched a frozen pizza line that grew far beyond our small-town roots. Before long, we were operating out of a warehouse with a team of employees, manufacturing thousands of pizzas a day to stock grocery stores throughout New England.

It was exciting growth — but over time, we realized we’d lost something important: the in-person connection. What we loved most was feeding people directly, seeing their reactions, hearing the laughter, and being part of life’s moments.

After the birth of our second child, we stepped away from the demanding, around-the-clock life of the restaurant — one that relied heavily on others — and ultimately away from manufacturing as well. We decided to simplify and return to what we love most: creating real, personal experiences through food. That’s how Farmers Market Pizza was born as it is today — a small, hands-on, people-focused business that keeps us close to our craft and our community.

Our Approach
During our peak summer season, we grow much of what we use — from tomatoes, cucumbers, and herbs to zinnias and dahlias that decorate our stations. Every event includes something homegrown, adding a touch of Vermont beauty and authenticity to the table.

On event days — whether it’s a wedding, rehearsal dinner, corporate celebration, or private gathering — we show up early, fully prepared, and ready to make the day seamless. We coordinate with planners, DJs, and day-of coordinators to ensure timing flows smoothly and service unfolds exactly as envisioned. Each event is executed with care, professionalism, and intention, from setup through the final breakdown.

When it comes to weddings, we know how meaningful every detail is. We work closely with each couple to bring their vision to life — from pacing the flow of pizzas to complement cocktail hour, to creating a relaxed yet refined service experience that keeps guests happy and engaged.

That same care extends to all events we cater. Whether it’s a company party, family reunion, or milestone celebration, we bring a fun yet professional presence that reflects the host’s intention to spoil guests with great food and warm service. Every guest is treated with kindness and respect — it’s at the heart of how we do things.

We’ve had the honor of serving both intimate backyard weddings and large corporate gatherings for partners like Porter Hospital, Burton Snowboards, and Beta Technologies. No matter the scale, our focus stays the same: serve with warmth, care, and a personal touch.

What We Do
At Farmers Market Pizza, we specialize in large-scale celebrations — weddings, corporate events, and gatherings where good food and community come together.

Our ciabatta-style pizza bakes in about 90 seconds in our high-heat oven, allowing us to serve large groups quickly and beautifully without ever compromising quality.

We also take on smaller, more intimate events, keeping our pricing in line with what’s needed for long-term sustainability. Because our setup, travel, and staffing remain the same regardless of guest count, smaller gatherings naturally carry higher per-person costs — but receive the same level of care, detail, and professionalism.

Every facet of the business is handled by the two of us — from menu design, emails, and client correspondence to sourcing, preparing, serving, and breakdown at every event. It’s a lot, but it keeps us organized, grounded, and connected with every client and every detail. Fewer cracks to fall through — and a much more personal experience for everyone we serve.

Our Winter Season
Vermont winters are unpredictable and travel can be risky, so our oven is carefully winterized, inspected, and often given a few upgrades and a fresh facelift to prepare for the next busy season — and she deserves a rest. During this time, we naturally transition into a different rhythm.

Without a storefront, everything we do is event-based, which means our off-season looks a little different. To stay sustainable (and prevent burnout), we’ve learned to be more selective about the events we take on. We focus on larger-scale indoor caterings — such as holiday parties, employee celebrations, and special gatherings — that allow us to maintain quality, fair margins, and balance for our two-person team.

Every event we accept aligns with our values and receives the full attention it deserves.

This quieter season also gives us time to refocus and refine — to regroup, update equipment, brainstorm new ideas, and fine-tune our skills. It’s a season of rest and growth that ensures we return in the spring with renewed creativity, energy, and purpose.

The Heart of It All
What makes us different is how personal we keep everything. We don’t hand things off — we show up. We set the tables, fire the pizzas, greet your guests, and stay until the last tray is packed.

We believe food has the power to bring people together — to create joy, comfort, and connection. For us, it’s not just about pizza; it’s about people. Every event is a chance to celebrate community, share our passion, and bring a little more Vermont warmth to the table.
